Cylix makes e-learning accessible
October 2003
Bespoke e-learning provider Cylix has launched a range of advanced accessibility features for its courseware. These include interactive text-to-speech, full keyboard control, and content magnification, allowing users to run courses at any resolution and zoom in on key areas.
"While screen readers such as JAWS and Window Eyes have made web browsing more accessible, they don't cope very well with dynamic, interactive e-learning content." says Philip Smith, Technical Director of Cylix. "The features we've developed enable us to deliver highly interactive e-learning that's also highly accessible. What's more, users don't need to purchase a screen reader or any additional software to take advantage of them."
The first courses to incorporate Cylix's accessibility features are about to be launched by Ufi across the national learndirect e-learning network. "We're very impressed by the accessibility options that Cylix have developed." says Peter Shufflebotham, Sector Commissioning Manager at Ufi. "Users can now easily configure the content to meet a range of accessibility requirements."
