Induction a perfect blend at the V&A
January 2004
Bespoke e-learning provider Cylix has developed a blended e-Induction course for the Victoria and Albert Museum.
"The Museum has always run a classroom-based induction programme for new starters." says Steven Price, Managing Director at Cylix. "However, it was interested in developing a more cost-effective blended learning programme that included an 'e' element. And that's where we came into the picture."
Working closely with key staff at the V&A over a period of six months, Cylix developed an e-Induction course that provides new starters with an introduction to the Museum and its collections. Incorporating an interactive interview with the Director of the Museum, a highly visual interface, and a range of advanced accessibility features, the course forms a key part of the Museum's blended induction programme.
"The course had to support the Museum's new brand image and reflect its status as a centre of excellence in art and design." continues Steven. "We spent a lot of time getting the visual design right and developing an interface that would actively encourage users to explore all the great things that the Museum has to offer."
And with all initial feedback full of praise for the new e-Induction course, it certainly looks like all the hard work has been worth it!
