Cylix and UK Online deliver skills for life
May 2004
Bespoke e-learning provider Cylix has produced two innovative new skills for life courses for UK Online. Keyboard Tutor covers how to use a modern computer keyboard, while Job Seeker provides users with guidelines and tips on how to apply for jobs successfully. Both courses are now available through UK Online's national network of learning centres.
"The main challenge we faced was developing effective e-learning courses that people who may normally be a bit wary of learning and computers would find engaging, stimulating and fun", says Steven Price, Cylix's Managing Director. "We wrote the courses in a very chatty and informal style and developed a simple, but highly flexible interface. We also used interactions, games and case study characters to draw people into the content and encourage them to apply their newfound knowledge and skills."
While both courses are highly interactive and incorporate a range of different media elements, Cylix has implemented advanced accessibility features in order to make them accessible to people with disabilities.
