Equal opportunities and diversity e-learning at MMU.
July 2004
Manchester Metropolitan University has chosen Cylix to develop a series of three e-learning courses on equal opportunities and diversity. The courses will form part of a comprehensive blended learning programme at the University, complementing existing classroom-based workshops.
The courses will explore different aspects of equal opportunities and diversity, and will be aimed at both staff and students within the University. They will make extensive use of case studies and scenarios in order to illustrate how key principles and points of law apply to everyday work situations.
"The problem with many courses on legislation is that they simply itemise points of law. This makes for dull and ineffective e-learning." says Steven Price, Managing Director of Cylix. "By incorporating case studies and scenarios, we'll be able to bring the legislation to life and encourage learners to actively explore the practical implications of the law."
The courses will be developed to run through WebCT, enabling data such as quiz results to be stored and analysed. They'll also incorporate a range of features to make them accessible to people with disabilities, including screen reader support, content magnification and full keyboard control.
