Ufi: ITQ Planner
In January 2005, Ufi chose us to develop ITQ Planner, an online planning tool for the new ITQ qualification.
The ITQ qualification is highly flexible, so we needed to provide candidates with a clear structure for achieving the qualification. The key challenges we faced were to develop an online resource that:
- Made the whole process of achieving an ITQ qualification as straightforward and 'transparent' as possible.
- Minimised the amount of face-to-face support candidates needed in order to build an ITQ programme.
- Provided ITQ assessors with the information needed to support candidates effectively at all stages.
- Could be accessed and used on a wide range of computers.
We worked with Ufi over a period of seven months to develop ITQ Planner. The finished product incorporates a range of sophisticated planning tools, diagnostic utilities, questionnaires and resources that enable candidates to:
- Get up to speed with the structure and requirements of the qualification.
- Choose the most appropriate IT subjects to include in their programme.
- Assess their own knowledge and skills and identify gaps that need to be addressed in order to achieve the qualification.
- Plan the tasks they will undertake in order to demonstrate competence.
- Track their progress towards achieving the qualification.
One particular innovation we implemented for the project was a context sensitive assistant, known as Monty, a 'friendly face' who guides candidates through each stage in the qualification.
Despite being a highly complex project from a technical and interworking perspective, we succeeded in delivering on time and within budget.
Cylix have shown excellent technical and project management ability in developing high quality, innovative and fit for purpose e-learning for Ufi. I have always found them to be a friendly, reliable and adaptable company to work with.
